Shakira is a New Mom

Shakira and Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué are the proud parents of a baby boy. The couple welcomed their first child on January 22, 2013 at 9:36pm in Barcelona, Spain. The couple named their son Milan Piqué Mebarak, with Shakira joking that “just like his father, baby Milan became a member of FC Barcelona at birth.”
 
“The name Milan (pronounced MEE-lahn), means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification,” said Shakira in an announcement on her official website.
 
Milan weighed a healthy 6 lbs 6 ounces and both mom and baby are doing fine.
 
In addition to taking care of baby Milan, Shakira will be handling judging duties on season 4 of NBC’s The Voice. CeeLo Green and Christina Aquilera are taking a break from the series to concentrate on their music, with Shakira and Usher tapped to fill their chairs.
