Author Cassandra Clare Interview on ‘The Mortal Instruments’

Author Cassandra Clare joined the stars of the film adaptation of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones at the 2013 WonderCon in Anaheim to talk about bringing the bestselling young adult book series to the big screen. On hand to answer questions from fans at the event were actors Lily Collins (‘Clary’), Jamie Campbell Bower (‘Jace’), and Kevin Zegers (‘Alec’), and a brand new trailer was debuted to the packed/enthusiastic WonderCon audience (it’s now available online here).

In addition to chatting with fans, Clare talked to us about agreeing to have her books made into a film series, what the filmmakers were absolutely not allowed to alter when they adapted her stories, and how she feels about seeing Lily Collins take on the role of Clary and Jamie Campbell Bower handle the role of Jace.

The Plot:

Set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray (Collins), discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother (Headey), Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures. Based on the worldwide best-selling book series.
