Disney and Marvel helped kick off the 2017 Super Bowl with the premiere of a new minute-long trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The new trailer shows a little action and lots of the humor that helped make Guardians of the Galaxy popular among movie fans that aren’t into comic books. Directed by James Gunn, the sequel reunites Chris Pratt as Pete Quill/Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Vin Diesel as Groot, Michael Rooker as Yondu, and Karen Gillan as Nebula. Disney’s targeting a May 5, 2017 theatrical release date.
The first film was released in August 2014 and rang up $773 million worldwide during its theatrical run, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 takes place just two months after Guardians of the Galaxy. The Guardians will be helping Peter Quill try and figure out the identity of his father while also taking on another mission.
