Universal Pictures’ upcoming creature feature, The Mummy, just released the first official trailer along with a batch of new photos. The reboot of the franchise has Tom Cruise (the Mission Impossible films) in a starring role opposite Sofia Boutella (Star Trek Beyond) as an ancient princess. The cast also includes Annabelle Wallis (Peaky Blinders), Jake Johnson (Jurassic World), Courtney B. Vance (American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson) and Russell Crowe. Alex Kurtzman directed from a script by Jon Spaihts and Christopher McQuarrie, with Universal targeting a June 9, 2017 theatrical release.

The Plot: Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Boutella) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension. From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
