Series co-creator Rachel Bloom turned to Youtube to announce the actors who’ve joined the cast of the comedy series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which will begin shooting in October. According to Bloom’s announcement, she’ll be joined in the series by Santino Fontana, Michael McDonald, Donna Lynne Champlin, and Vincent Rodriguez III.

Bloom is starring in and executive producing the series along with Aline Brosh McKenna. Marc Webb, director of 500 Days of Summer and The Amazing Spider-Man 1 & 2, will helm the pilot and is also involved as an executive producer.

The Plot:

The project centers around Rebecca (Bloom), a successful, driven, and possibly crazy young woman who impulsively gives up everything – her partnership at a prestigious law firm and her upscale apartment in Manhattan – in a desperate attempt to find love and happiness in that exotic hotbed of romance and adventure: West Covina, California.

Fontana will play Greg, a bartender and Rebecca’s (Bloom) first friend. Actor and comedian McDonald is Darryl, Rebecca’s new boss. Champlin plays Paula, her co-worker at the law firm who is suspicious of Rebecca, and Broadway star Rodriguez III will play Josh, Rebecca’s childhood boyfriend who she serendipitously runs into years later, and who acts as the catalyst for her dramatic life change.
