If you know who David Cassidy, Micky Dolenz, and Peter Noone are, then this bit of news is for you. If none of those names ring a bell, then move along – this one’s for the older crowd.
Cassidy’s presenting The World’s Greatest Teen Idols in concert, kicking off a year-long tour with a performance at the Theatre at Westbury on March 22, 2013. The tour marks the first time Cassidy, Dolenz, and Noone have performed together on stage.
Between the three former teen idols, they’ve racked up 42 charted songs and have sold more than 250 million records.
David Cassidy was a teen heartthrob back in the 1970s, earning the title while starring in The Partridge Family series. As part of The Partridge Family, Cassidy released 10 albums. And as a solo act, he released an additional five albums. Way back in the ’70s, Cassidy was able to sell out Madison Square Garden in less than 30 minutes. He also performed at sold-out concerts at Wembley Stadium and set a record with 73,000 fans showing up for his Melbourne Cricket Grounds concert in 1974.
Micky Dolenz was a part of the band The Monkees, created for the 1960s TV series. Dolenz sang lead on the group’s hits “Last Train to Clarksville,” “Pleasant Valley Sunday,” “I’m a Believer,” and “I’m Not Your Stepping Stone,” and the group wound up selling more than 65 million units (back in the days before iTunes and Amazon). They reached the #1 spot on the charts with their records The Monkees, More of the Monkees, Headquarters, and Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones, Ltd..
Peter Noone was a part of Herman’s Hermits – actually, he’s ‘Herman.’ The group’s hits include “I’m Into Something Good,” “Mrs. Brown, you’ve Got A Lovely Daughter,” “I’m Henry VIII, I Am,” “Silhouettes,” “Can’t You Hear My Heartbeat,” “Wonderful World,” and “There’s A Kind of Hush.” The group has collected seven gold albums and 14 gold singles and sold over 80 million units.
