The odds of The Revenant earning the Best Picture Oscar have gotten better after director Alejandro G. Iñárritu picked up the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film award from the Directors Guild of America. His win marks the first time in DGA awards history that a director has won the award in consecutive years. Iñárritu earned the same honor last year for his work on Birdman.

The DGA awards were held on February 6, 2016, honoring the best in films, television and commercials of 2015. Jane Lynch hosted the awards ceremony and the presenters included Christian Bale, DGA President Paris Barclay, Angela Bassett, Abigail Breslin, Steve Carell, James Corden, Bryan Cranston, Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jon Favreau, Ryan Gosling, Tom Hooper, Regina King, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Rachel McAdams, Nate Parker, Steven Spielberg, and Lily Tomlin.
