“The second film in the Divergent franchise takes the story and action to another level and, by partnering with RealD, we were able to blend gripping performances and mind-blowing spectacle to create a unique event on screen,” said producers Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher. “We cannot wait to share this experience with audiences around the world.”

Woodley returns as Tris, James is back as Four, and Kate Winslet returns as Jeanine. Also reprising their roles are Jai Courtney, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Zoe Kravitz, Ray Stevenson, Maggie Q, and Mekhi Phifer. Robert Schwentke directed Insurgent with Brian Duffield, Akiva Goldsman, and Mark Bomback adapting Veronica Roth’s book for the screen.

Insurgent will be followed by Allegiant Part 1 on March 18, 2016 and Allegiant Part 2 on March 24, 2017.

The Plot:

The Divergent Series: Insurgent raises the stakes for Tris as she searches for allies and answers in the ruins of a futuristic Chicago. Tris and Four are now fugitives on the run, hunted by Jeanine, the leader of the power-hungry Erudite elite. Racing against time, they must find out what Tris’s family sacrificed their lives to protect, and why the Erudite leaders will do anything to stop them. Haunted by her past choices but desperate to protect the ones she loves, Tris, with Four at her side, faces one impossible challenge after another as they unlock the truth about the past and ultimately the future of their world.
