The X Factor season one winner Melanie Amaro has released her first single, “Don’t Fail Me Now,” off of her upcoming album. “Don’t Fail Me Now” was written by Livvi Franc and chronicles Amaro’s journey to achieving a career in music: “I’ve paid my dues, I’ve paid the price, I’ve prayed for you almost every night. I’ve walked the longest road so don’t fail me now, feet don’t fail me now” – from “Don’t Fail Me Now.”

Amaro’s upcoming album doesn’t have a title yet, however it does have supporters among The X Factor judges. Says L.A. Reid, “I am really proud to have Melanie Amaro on the Epic Records roster. As the winner of the first season of The X Factor she is a proven champion who is destined for success.”

When she was announced as the first season’s winner, Simon Cowell described her as “someone who can sell records all over the world, and I think she’s got longevity. She’s got that star ability, and she’s tough.” Her Pepsi commercial co-star Elton John says she’s cheeky, fun, and has the personality of a great live artist. “She oozes personality … you can see it just by talking to her,” said John.

Season two of The X Factor kicks off on September 12, 2012 on FOX.
