Well, this is an interesting turn of events, isn’t it? NBC just announced Michael Che will be joining Colin Jost as co-host of the ‘Weekend Update’ segment on Saturday Night Live. Last season’s ‘Weekend Update’ co-anchor Cecily Strong will remain a full-time member of the cast, however she won’t return to the ‘Weekend Update’ desk.
Che’s credits include being a writer on SNL and a Daily Show correspondent, and he made Variety’s Top 10 Comics to Watch list. He also had his first comedy special earlier this year on Comedy Central.
Season 40 of SNL will kick off on September 27, 2014 with Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt hosting the show. Ariana Grande will be the musical guest.
