Ricky Martin is Heading to Television
Grammy winner Ricky Martin’s signed up with Universal Television to develop and star in his first-ever network television series and specials. Universal Television Executive Vice President Bela Bajaria made the announcement today, calling Martin an “iconic superstar who is as talented as he is popular.”
“Whether he’s performing before sold-out concert crowds, or starring on Broadway, where he is currently playing to SRO in Evita, Ricky connects with his audience in a very palpable way – and we are thrilled that he will be adding TV star to his incredible resume,” said Bajaria.
Martin is the Latin Recording Academy’s youngest ever “Person of the Year” honoree and has recently been on the New York Times bestseller list with his autobiography, ME. He released his 12th album Musica+Alma+Sexo in 2011 which became the highest chart debut for a “principally Spanish language album” in over a dozen years. Martin’s recently expanded his resume to include acting gigs, including a guest appearance on Glee.
