Universal Pictures is launching The Purge, a thriller starring Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey, in theaters on June 7, 2013 and in support of the film’s theatrical release the studio’s also launching The Purge Blog App. The special app lets you test your survival skills with the “Would You Survive the Night” quiz as well as view images from the film.
And in addition to The Purge Blog App, Universal Pictures is offering a special The Purge prize pack that includes a The Purge T-shirt and creepy mask. So, what do you have to do to enter The Purge giveaway? It’s super easy. Simply send an email to [email protected] with “The Purge Contest” in the subject line. The contest is open to anyone 18 years or older and you must reside in the continental United States. Only one entry per email address will be accepted. The contest ends on June 16, 2013 at 9pm PST. The winner must supply a mailing address that isn’t a PO Box.
The Purge Plot:
If, on one night every year, you could commit any crime without facing consequences, what would you do?
In an America wracked with crime and overcrowded prisons, the government has sanctioned an annual 12-hour period in which any and all criminal activity–including murder–becomes legal. The police can’t be called. Hospitals suspend help. It’s twelve hours when the citizenry regulates itself without thought of punishment. On this particular night in 2022, plagued by violence and an epidemic of crime, one family wrestles with the decision of who they will become when a stranger comes knocking.
When an intruder breaks into James Sandin’s (Ethan Hawke) gated community during the yearly lockdown, he begins a sequence of events that threatens to tear his family apart. Now, it is up to James, his wife, Mary (Lena Headey), and their kids to make it through the night without turning into the monsters from whom they hide.
