Timothy Dalton to Star in Penny Dreadful

Showtime LogoIt’s official: Timothy Dalton (Bond in License to Kill, The Living Daylights) has signed on to star in Showtime’s Penny Dreadful. And, coincidentally, the dramatic series is being executive produced by a Bond director, Sam Mendes (Skyfall and Bond 24), and a Bond screenwriter, John Logan (Skyfall). Dalton will be joining a cast which includes Josh Hartnett and Eva Green.
Filming’s expected to begin on the eight episode season one later this year with Showtime aiming for a 2014 premiere. Described as a “frightening psychological thriller,” the first two episodes will be directed by Juan Antonio Bayona (The Orphanage and The Impossible).
Dalton’s other credits include The Rocketeer, The Beautician and the Beast, The Informant, Made Men, American Outlaws, Hot Fuzz, Toy Story 3, and The Tourist.
