Batman’s Cowl, Corpse Bride Puppets Donated to the Smithsonian

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Golden Ticket Warner Bros Pictures chairman Barry Meyer gave the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History 30+ movie artifacts to add to their entertainment collections. Among the items presented during a ceremony on March 8, 2013 were Halle Berry’s Catwoman costume, puppets from Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride, George Clooney’s Batman Cowl, and props from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The donated items came from Warner Bros Pictures’ films released between 1942 and 2005.

Other items just donated by WB include Paul Newman’s suit from The Helen Morgan Story and Christopher Reeve’s Superman III outfit. These items join the Smithsonian’s collection that features The Wizard of Oz‘s ruby slippers and an Alien egg.

“At the National Museum of American History we seek to tell an inclusive American story,” stated John Gray, director of the museum. “Films are an integral part of this culture and of our daily lives, shaping how we perceive ourselves as Americans. The legacy of Warner Bros. is an important part of American history and these objects help us to tell that story.”

In addition, Warner Bros is sponsoring the 2013 Classic Film Festival at the museum running March 8-10th.
