HBO is bringing back Vice for a second season as just announced today by HBO Programming President Michael Lombardo. The news magazine is executive produced by Bill Maher, Shane Smith and Eddy Moretti, with BJ Levin co-executive producing.

Shane Smith hosts the series, which kicked off season one on April 5, 2013. Episodes air on Fridays at 11:00pm, immediately after Real Time with Bill Maher.

Announcing the renewal, Lombardo said, “Vice‘s fearless, irreverent style of news coverage has produced a uniquely provocative show. We look forward to more of their groundbreaking reporting in season two.”

“I honestly don’t think there is another network in the world that would have given us the opportunity and support that HBO did over the last year,” added Shane Smith. “We learned a lot over the course of shooting season one and are insanely excited over our story selection for season two. Now that our various parasites, hernias, and virulent rashes have been treated, we are ready in mind and in body to go out there and get the gold.”

And Maher joked, “Damn them, I don’t hear about my own show anymore from people on the street. They stop me and say, ‘I love that Vice show!’”
