AMC has confirmed Preacher season two will premiere on Monday, June 19, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT and as previously announced will consist of 13 episodes, up from the first season’s order of 10. In addition to revealing the June premiere date, AMC released the first batch of photos from season two’s first episode. The photos feature series stars Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, Ruth Negga as Tulip, and Joseph Gilgun as Cassidy. The episode one photos also include a look at Graham McTavish (Outlander) as The Saint of Killers.
The season two cast also features Ian Coletti, Noah Taylor (Game of Thrones), Pip Torrens (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Julie Ann Emery (Better Call Saul), Malcolm Barrett (Dear White People), Justin Prentice (Awkward), and Ronald Guttman (Mozart in the Jungle).
Showrunner Sam Catlin will be joining executive producer Seth Rogen and graphic novelist Garth Ennis for a Preacher season two panel at SXSW on March 11th. SXSW attendees will get a chance to check out what AMC describes as “an exclusive first look” at the upcoming season.
The Plot: Based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s popular ‘90’s cult comic book franchise of the same name, Preacher season one follows a West Texas preacher named Jesse Custer (Cooper), who is inhabited by the renegade spawn of an angel and demon and gains the power to control people with just a word. Jesse, his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip (Negga) and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Gilgun) are thrust into a twisted battle spanning Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between.
Preacher season two debuts this summer with a genre-bending thrill ride that follows Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy as they embark on a road trip to find God, dealing with issues both worldly and other-worldly along the way.
