Captain Kirk (William Shatner) takes on the giant lizard creature once again for the launch of Star Trek: The Video Game on April 23, 2013. The first epic battle of studly man versus weird-looking lizard thing was originally seen way back in 1967. Now, the two former rivals meet again 40 years after they first went hand-to-claw on a desert planet in Star Trek, however, this time the situation’s a bit friendlier.

“What better way to spotlight the adventure and fun everyone can have actually playing as Capt. Kirk in the new game, than to team up the legendary former captain himself to play one of his old foes,” stated LeeAnne Stables, President of Consumer Products at Paramount Pictures, the studio releasing the game. “Mr. Shatner is such a great sport and that Gorn had absolutely no chance of coming out on top this time.”
In the new promotional video, the two are comfortably seated on a couch playing the new Star Trek game. When Shatner gives Gorn a friendly punch in the arm, the game is forgotten and the old foes are ready to go at it again. But fortunately, this time around, pillows replace rocks.
Says Shatner after shooting the new video: “It never ceases to amaze me how many people still ask me about that scene. It’s 46 years later, and he hasn’t aged as well as I have.”

Players take on the roles of Kirk and Spock, who work together to get to the heart of a mysterious attack by an enemy with unimaginable strength – a re-imagined version of the Gorn. In an entirely original story, written by BAFTA award winner Marianne Krawczyk, the Gorn is a terrifying threat, with an army that could overwhelm Kirk, Spock and the crew of the Enterprise.
