After Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight script leaked out to the world following its distribution to about half a dozen actors, Tarantino halted the Western and decided not to move forward with the film. He’s currently involved in a lawsuit with Gawker over providing links to the copyrighted script, and it appears the script may now only be released in book form.
However, Film Independent (the group behind the Film Independent Spirit Awards and the LA Film Festival) just announced they’ll be putting on a staged reading of Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight script. According to the official announcement, this will be a “once-in-a-lifetime event” that will not be streamed live or recorded. The reading will take place on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at The Theatre at the Ace Hotel (929 South Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90015). The event will begin at 8pm PT and all proceeds from the ticket sales will go to help Film Independent at LACMA’s year-round programming.

The Plot: The Hateful Eight follows the steadily ratcheting tension that develops after a blizzard diverts a stagecoach from its route, and traps a pitiless and mistrustful group which includes a competing pair of bounty hunters, a renegade Confederate soldier, and a female prisoner in a saloon in the middle of nowhere.
Tarantino’s film credits include Django Unchained, Inglourious Basterds, Death Proof, and Kill Bill.
