CinemaCon Managing Director Mitch Neuhauser made the announcement, stating: “One of Hollywood’s most versatile actresses, Elizabeth Banks has captured moviegoing audiences’ attention across the globe with her spot-on portrayals of a diverse array of characters. From First Lady Laura Bush in W., to an emotionally charged pregnant woman in What to Expect When You’re Expecting, to the highly fashionable and eccentric Capitol Escort Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games, Banks embraces each role unlike no other actress out there. We are thrilled to be able to honor her this year with the ‘CinemaCon Award for Excellence in Acting.’”
Banks will receive the honor during this year’s CinemaCon running April 15-18th at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The awards gala will take place on April 18th in The Colosseum at Caesars.
Banks will be seen later this year reprising her role as ‘Effie Trinket’ in The Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire. That second film of the planned four film The Hunger Games series will open in theaters on November 22nd.
