Larry McMurtry Announces The Last Book Sale

300,000+ books will be going up for sale as part of “The Last Book Sale” in Archer City, Texas. Screenwriter/author Larry McMurtry (The Last Picture Show, Brokeback Mountain) is hosting the huge book sale at his Booked Up, Inc. store on August 10 and 11, 2012. The books are all part of one of the largest collections in America and are currently kept in three buildings at Booked Up.

McMurtry will be on hand for the sale which will include rare books and manuscripts as well 100 books he personally selected just because he finds them interesting.

But, not to worry Booked Up shoppers. The store isn’t closing. Even if all 300,000 books sell, there will still be over 165,000 books available at Booked Up.

McMurtry’s been buying books for the last 40 years, picking up store inventories as well as purchasing private collections. With this The Last Book Sale, McMurtry says he wants young dealers to have the opportunity to “acquire some good stock.”
