So says Esquire magazine. Esquire‘s chosen Mila Kunis – former star of That ’70s Show who’s transitioned to the big screen with roles in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, The Book of Eli, Black Swan, and Ted – as the 2012 Sexiest Woman Alive. 29-year-old Kunis, who has grown up in front of our eyes since debuting in front of the cameras in 1995, seems to have kept her head on her shoulders – even while bumping Rihanna off the Sexiest Woman Alive pedestal. The fact she’s often the best thing about movies she chooses to star in hasn’t gone to her head.
Speaking to Esquire in an interview for their November 2012 issue, Kunis talked about her upbringing and separating her life in front of the camera from when she’s off-screen.
“What I do and who I am are two different things. And they always will be. What happens with people is they lose sight of who they are, and they become either who they want to be or who they are perceived to be. But whatever it is, it is no longer who they are. So much of who you are in this industry is based on what that critic says, what that director says, what that actor says. People start believing all that, and they become what everybody else wants them to be. And I think that I’ve consciously separated my two lives.”
