It was the tongue, wasn’t it? Maybe not, but Miley Cyrus’ tongue has been getting so much publicity recently that maybe it had something to do with the end of Cyrus’ engagement to actor Liam Hemsworth (younger brother of Thor‘s Chris Hemsworth and co-star of The Hunger Games films). People confirmed the couple are no longer heading down the aisle in the near future after having broken up one more time.

Hemsworth wasn’t around to watch Cyrus’ VMA twerking/tongue-extension performance live (he had to endure it on video like the rest of us), but Cyrus did accompany Hemsworth on the red carpet at the premiere of Paranoia in August. Other than that photo op, they’ve both been busy with films and music and haven’t been seen together as couple in public very often recently.

Cyrus and Hemsworth met while working on the romantic drama The Last Song and became engaged in May 2012. Since then they’ve broken up and gotten back together a few times, but this time it could be for good as Cyrus took the big step of unfollowing Hemsworth on Twitter – a 2013 social media signal that a relationship is over for good.
