‘A Minecraft Movie’ Final Trailer: Anything’s Possible in Overworld

Your experience watching the final trailer for A Minecraft Movie will vary greatly, depending on the level of knowledge of the game. If you’re just here for the famous faces – Jason Momoa, Jack Black, and Oscar nominee Danielle Brooks – you’re going to have a good time. But if you’ve ever built a dirt house or battled a Creeper, buckle up. This trailer’s packed with Easter eggs and you’ll need to watch it multiple times to catch them all.

The live-action video game adaptation cast also includes Emma Myers (Wednesday), Sebastian Hansen (Just Mercy), and Jennifer Coolidge (The White Lotus). Jared Hess directs from a screenplay by Chris Bowman, Hubbel Palmer, Neil Widener, Gavin James, and Chris Galletta.

“Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn’t just help you craft, it’s essential to one’s survival! Four misfits—Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers) and Dawn (Brooks)—find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination,” reads Warner Bros Pictures’ official synopsis.

It continues: “To get back home, they’ll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative…the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.”

Jason Momoa, Roy Lee, Jon Berg, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Jill Messick, Torfi Frans Ólafsson, and Vu Bui serve as producers. Executive producers include Todd Hallowell, Jay Ashenfelter, Kayleen Walters, Brian Mendoza, and Jon Spaihts.

Warner Bros Pictures is releasing A Minecraft Movie in theaters and IMAX on April 4, 2025.
