Adam Sandler Soars in ‘Spaceman’ Trailer

After xix months of solitude on a spaceship, floating alone with no one to talk to, Astronaut Jakub Prochazka (Adam Sandler) has a bizarre encounter with an extraterrestrial (voiced by Paul Dano) in the trailer for Netflix’s Spaceman. Or is the spider-like creature merely a figment of his imagination?

“I really wanted to have a performance from him that had nothing to do with the Adam Sandler we all know,” said director Johan Renck (Chernobyl) to Netflix’s Tudum. “I don’t think people understand how [although] he may come across as funny and sweet and all that, he’s very intelligent, really smart, profound.”

The cast of the sci-fi drama, based on Jaroslav Kalfař’s Spaceman of Bohemia, includes Carey Mulligan (Maestro), Kunal Nayyar (Suspicion), Lena Olin (Hunters), and Isabella Rossellini (Julia). Colby Day adapted the book, and Channing Tatum, Reid Carolin, Peter Kiernan, Michael Parets, Tim Headington, Lia Buman, and Max Silva served as producers.

Director Renck, Ben Ormand, and Barry Bernardi executive produced.

Spaceman will open in limited release on February 23, 2024 followed by a streaming release on Netflix on March 1st.
