‘Alien: Romulus’ Final Trailer Drops with Chilling Nod to the Original

20th Century Studios’ final trailer for Alien: Romulus pays homage to the original film in an unexpected way. While the new crew is being terrorized by xenomorphs, “You Are My Lucky Star” plays in the background.

Alien: Romulus takes the phenomenally successful Alien franchise back to its roots: While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe,” reads 20th Century Studios’ synopsis.

The seventh film of the sci-fi franchise stars Cailee Spaeny (Civil War), David Jonsson (Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Isabela Merced (The Last of Us), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and Aileen Wu. Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe) and Rodo Sayagues co-wrote the screenplay, with Alvarez directing. Ripley Scott, director of Alien, Prometheus, and Alien: Covenant, served as a producer. Additional producers include Michael Pruss and Walter Hill. Alvarez, Elizabeth Cantillon, Brent O’Connor, and Tom Moran executive produced.

Alien: Romulus opens in theaters on August 16, 2024.
