Amazon MGM Studio’s new one-minute video for Challengers features brief interview clips with Zendaya (Euphoria, Dune Parts 1 & 2) discussing her character. Filmmaker Luca Guadagnino also briefly chimes in, complimenting Zendaya as both a wonderful producer and vibrant, collaborative actor.
The R-rated drama also stars Mike Faist (West Side Story) and Josh O’Connor (The Crown) Oscar nominee Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name, Bones and All) directed from a screenplay by Justin Kuritzkes, with Zendaya, Amy Pascal, and Rachel O’Connor producing.
“Challengers stars Zendaya as Tashi Duncan, a former tennis prodigy turned coach and a force of nature who makes no apologies for her game on and off the court. Married to a champion on a losing streak (Faist), Tashi’s strategy for her husband’s redemption takes a surprising turn when he must face off against the washed-up Patrick (O’Connor) – his former best friend and Tashi’s former boyfriend,” reads Amazon MGM’s synopsis. “As their pasts and presents collide, and tensions run high, Tashi must ask herself, what will it cost to win.”
Challengers opens in theaters on April 26, 2024 and features music by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Executive producers include Bernard Bellew, Lorenzo Mieli, and Kevin Ulrich.
