Zendaya, Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor Talk ‘Challengers’

Amazon MGM Studios’ latest featurette for Challengers features the film’s stars – Zendaya (Dune Parts 1 and 2), Mike Faist (West Side Story), and Josh O’Connor (The Crown) – discussing the R-rated drama. Zendaya, the center of a love triangle in the mesmerizing sports drama, says the film’s a rollercoaster of emotions that challenges the audience.

Oscar nominated director Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name, Bones and All) describes the film as a “passionate love story where the rules of the game of tennis become the rules of the game of seduction.” And Zendaya considers tennis to be just the outlet for the characters to express their chaos.

“From visionary filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, Challengers stars Zendaya as Tashi Duncan, a former tennis prodigy turned coach and a force of nature who makes no apologies for her game on and off the court. Married to a champion on a losing streak (Mike Faist), Tashi’s strategy for her husband’s redemption takes a surprising turn when he must face off against the washed-up Patrick (Josh O’Connor) – his former best friend and Tashi’s former boyfriend,” reads MGM’s synopsis. “As their pasts and presents collide, and tensions run high, Tashi must ask herself, what will it cost to win.”

Justin Kuritzkes wrote the screenplay, with Zendaya, Guadagnino, Amy Pascal, and Rachel O’Connor producing. Executive producers include Bernard Bellew, Lorenzo Mieli, and Kevin Ulrich.

Challengers opens in theaters on April 26, 2024.
