Focus Features’ trailer confirms the buzz surrounding Andrew Scott’s performance in Elsinore is well-deserved. The biographical drama won the International People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival and will open in limited release on November 20, 2026.
In addition to Andrew Scott, Elsinore stars Olivia Colman, Billie Piper, Johnny Flynn, Luke Thompson, David Dawson, Matthew Beard, and Joe Locke. The film also stars Monica Dolan, Georgie Glen, Sadie Soverall, Adeel Akhtar, Dickie Beau, Kadiff Kirwan, Juliet Stevenson, and Peter Mullan.
“The deeply emotional and inspirational true story of Ian Charleson, a gifted actor whose greatest challenge becomes his greatest triumph,” reads Focus Features’ synopsis. “Facing his own mortality with unflinching honesty, wit, and grace, Charleson delivers a courageous performance that becomes a source of healing and inspiration for those around him.”
Stephen Beresford wrote the screenplay and Simon Stone (The Woman in Cabin 10) directs. Andrew Scott, Andrea Occhipinti, Gabrielle Tana, Pete Shilaimon, Mickey Liddell, Stefano Massenzi, and Carolyn Marks Blackwood serve as producers.
