Oscar winner Brad Pitt’s Formula 1 racing drama has an official title: F1. The action drama, directed by Top Gun Maverick‘s Joseph Kosinski, dropped a teaser poster and confirmed a June 27, 2025 domestic theatrical release date.

F1 is going for pure authentic action, filming during Formula 1 Grand Prix weekends as, per the title announcement press release, the team competes against the titans of the sport. Brad Pitt stars as a former driver who returns to Formula 1, alongside Damson Idris (Snowfall) as his teammate at APXGP, a fictional team on the grid.

Apple Original Films says the film is being shot in collaboration with Formula 1 and the F1 community, including the 10 F1 teams and their drivers, the FIA, and race promoters.

The cast also includes Academy Award nominee Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), Academy Award winner Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men), Emmy Award winner Tobias Menzies (The Crown), Emmy Award nominee Sarah Niles (Ted Lasso), Kim Bodnia (Killing Eve), and Samson Kayo (Our Flag Means Death).

Director Joseph Kosinski serves as a producer along with Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman of Jerry Bruckheimer Films; Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner for Plan B Entertainment; and seven-time Formula One champion Sir Lewis Hamilton under his Dawn Apollo Films banner. Copper CEO Penni Thow executive produces.

The Apple Original Films production is being distributed in theaters and IMAX by Warner Bros Pictures. Warner Bros is planning a June 25, 2025 international release.
