Striking while the Game of Thrones iron is hot, Anova Pictures just released the first photo of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in The Silencing. The dramatic thriller comes from director Robin Pront (2015’s The Ardennes) and is currently shooting in Canada.

In addition to Nikolaj Coster-Waldau – last seen as Jaime Lannister, hugging and saying his goodbyes to his sister/lover beneath the Red Keep – is joined in the drama by Wynonna Earp‘s Melanie Scrofano, The Son‘s Zahn McClarnon, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword‘s Annabelle Wallis, Safe‘s Hero Fiennes-Tiffin, and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland‘s Shaun Smyth.

Micah Ranum won the Nicholl Fellowship for his script. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences describes the award as “the Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting is an international screenwriting competition established to identify and encourage talented new screenwriters.”

Cybill Lui of Anova Pictures produces and XYZ Films executive produces. XYZ is also set to handle the film’s global sales as well as “represent the US with Endeavor Content at the Marché du Film at Cannes,” according to Anova’s official announcement.

Director Pront’s behind the scenes team includes director of photography Manuel Dacosse, production designer Zosia Mackenzie, editor Alain Dessauvage, and costume designer Amanda Lee Street.

Although best known as the Kingslayer in Game of Thrones, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s additional credits include Gods of Egypt, The Other Woman, Nightwatch, Black Hawk Down, and the 2008 series New Amsterdam. He recently finished shooting Domino with Carice van Houten (Game of Thrones‘ Melisandre), Suicide Tourist for director Jonas Alexander Arnby, and Notat for director Ole Christian Madsen.

The Silencing Plot:

The Silencing follows a reformed hunter (Coster-Waldau) who becomes involved in a deadly game of cat and mouse when he and the local Sheriff set out to track a vicious killer who may have kidnapped his daughter years ago.”
