The official trailer for the new Ghostbusters has arrived starring Melissa McCarthy as a paranormal expert, Kristen Wiig as a particle physicist, Kate McKinnon as a nuclear engineer, and Leslie Jones as the group’s muscle. The trailer confirms the return of Slimer – and Kristen Wiig’s character is the victim of a gross-out slime attack – and features the Ecto-1 vehicle. The ghosts are prominently featured and Chris Hemsworth puts in a very brief appearance in this first real look at the Sony Pictures comedy. Directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, Spy), Sony Pictures is aiming for a July 15, 2016 theatrical release and the studio’s just announced the film will be digitally remastered into the 3D format. The studio also revealed Ghostbusters will receive an IMAX release.

Ghostbusters is a cultural phenomenon, and we look forward to bringing this exciting re-imagining to IMAX(®) 3D theatres around the world,” stated Greg Foster, Senior Executive Vice President, IMAX Corp. and CEO of IMAX Entertainment. “Sony has assembled a hugely talented team of filmmakers which has created a film with amazing scope and scale in which the stunts, the thrills and, of course, the laughs will all be bigger in IMAX.”

The Plot: Ghostbusters makes its long-awaited return, rebooted with a cast of hilarious new characters. Thirty years after the beloved original franchise took the world by storm, director Paul Feig brings his fresh take to the supernatural comedy, joined by some of the funniest actors working today – Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth.
