‘Hit Man’ Trailer: Glen Powell’s a Master of Disguise

The new trailer for Netflix’s Hit Man finds Glen Powell donning multiple disguises as a hit man who’s not really a hit man. He’s just Gary Johnson, cat owner and average dude.

“It’s about identity and self and passion. But on a plot level, it’s just a guy who gets in a little too deep,” said Powell, describing the film to Netflix’s Tudum. “His passions lead him in a direction where he’s deceiving someone he’s in love with, and being someone else. They have to deal with those repercussions.”

Adria Arjona, Austin Amelio, Retta, Sanjay Rao, Molly Bernard, and Evan Holtzman also star.

Powell co-wrote the screenplay with Richard Linklater, based on Skip Hollandsworth’s Texas Monthly article. Linklater directs and serves as a producer along with Powell, Mike Blizzard, Jason Bateman, and Michael Costigan. Stuart Ford, Zach Garrett, Miguel A. Palos Jr., Shivani Rawat, Julie Goldstein, and Vicky Patel executive produce.

Additional executive producers include Steve Barnett, Alan Powell, John Sloss, Scott Brown, and Megan Creydt.

“Inspired by an unbelievable true story, a strait-laced professor discovers his hidden talent as a fake hit man,” reads Netflix’s synopsis. “He meets his match in a client who steals his heart and ignites a powder keg of deception, delight, and mixed-up identities.”

Hit Man opens in limited theaters on May 24, 2024, followed by a release on Netflix on June 7th.
