Le Grisbi Productions and Waypoint Entertainment have unveiled the first official photo from the dramatic film, Hostiles, starring Christian Bale. The thriller, which comes from writer/director Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart, Out of the Furnace), will have its international premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. In addition to Bale, the Hostiles cast includes Rosamund Pike, Wes Studi, Adam Beach, Ben Foster, Jesse Plemons, Rory Cochrane, and Q’orianka Kilcher.

Scott Cooper, John Lesher, and Ken Kao produced the 19th century Western drama. Masanobu Takayanagi is the cinematographer, Tom Cross is the editor, and Donald Graham Burt is the production designer.

The Plot: Set in 1892, Hostiles tells the story of a legendary Army Captain (Christian Bale) who, after stern resistance, reluctantly agrees to escort a dying Cheyenne war chief (Wes Studi) and his family back home to tribal lands. Making the harrowing and perilous journey from New Mexico to the grasslands of Montana, the former rivals encounter a young widow (Rosamund Pike) whose family was murdered on the plains. Together, they must join forces to overcome the punishing landscape, hostile Comanche, and vicious outliers they encounter along the way.
