Focus Features isn’t launching Insidious Chapter 3 in theaters until next summer, however they’ve just released the first official trailer for the horror prequel. This new addition to the Insidious franchise is directed by Leigh Whannell, writer of Insidious 1 and 2 and filmmaking partner of director James Wan (the Saw franchise). Parts one and two of the franchise starred Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne, but this time the story focuses on a new family played by Dermot Mulroney and Stefanie Scott. The cast also includes Whannell, Lin Shaye, and Angus Sampson.
Insidious Chapter 3 opens in theaters on May 29, 2015.
The Plot:
This chilling prequel, set before the haunting of the Lambert family, reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl (Stefanie Scott) who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity.
