Joker Starring Joaquin Phoenix Releases a Crazy Final Trailer

In the final trailer for Warner Bros Pictures’ Joker, Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) is told it’s his last meeting with his therapist. He replies, “You don’t listen, do you? You just ask the same questions every week. ‘How is your job?’ ‘Are you having any negative thoughts?’ All I have are negative thoughts.”

The trailer goes on to show Arthur as a comedian who gets no respect. From there he transitions into the iconic villain we know from the DC Comics.

Three-time Oscar nominee Joaquin Phoenix (The Master, Walk the Line, Gladiator) is joined by Oscar winner Robert De Niro (Raging Bull, The Godfather: Part II), Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), Frances Conroy (the American Horror Story anthology), Marc Maron (GLOW), and Bill Camp (Red Sparrow, Molly’s Game). The cast also includes Glenn Fleshler (Billions, Barry), Shea Whigham (Boardwalk Empire, Kong: Skull Island), Brett Cullen (Narcos, 42), Douglas Hodge (Red Sparrow, Penny Dreadful), and Josh Pais (Motherless Brooklyn).

Todd Phillips (Borat, The Hangover films) directed and co-wrote Joker with Oscar nominee Scott Silver (The Fighter). Phillips, Bradley Cooper, and Emma Tillinger Koskoff produced, and Michael E. Uslan, Walter Hamada, Aaron L. Gilbert, Joseph Garner, Richard Baratta, and Bruce Berman executive produced.

Joker will open in theaters on October 4, 2019.

The Plot, Courtesy of Warner Bros:

“Director Todd Phillips’ Joker centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone fictional story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck, who is indelibly portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, is of a man struggling to find his way in Gotham’s fractured society. A clown-for-hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic at night…but finds the joke always seems to be on him. Caught in a cyclical existence between apathy and cruelty, Arthur makes one bad decision that brings about a chain reaction of escalating events in this gritty character study.”
