‘Jumanji: The Next Level’ Trailer: The Game’s On But with a Surprise Twist

The first trailer for Sony Pictures’ Jumanji: The Next Level reveals the gang has been drawn back into the game. But, there’s a twist. It’s not Spencer who enters the game; this time it’s his grandfather who transforms into Dwayne Johnson.

In addition to Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Nick Jonas return for the sequel to 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. The cast also includes Awkwafina, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, Alex Wolff, Danny Glover, and Danny DeVito.

Jake Kasdan returned to direct the sequel. Kasdan co-wrote the screenplay with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, Matt Tolmach, and Kasdan produced. David Householter, Melvin Mar, Scott Rosenberg, Jeff Pinkner, William Teitler, Ted Field, Mike Weber, and Jumanji author Chris Van Allsburg executive produced.

Writer/director Jake Kasdan’s behind the scenes team includes director of photography Gyula Pados, editor Steve Edwards, production designer Bill Brzeski, and costume designer Louise Mingenbach.

Sony Pictures is planning a December 13, 2019 theatrical release.

The Plot:

“In Jumanji: The Next Level, the gang is back but the game has changed. As they return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own, they discover that nothing is as they expect. The players will have to brave parts unknown and unexplored, from the arid deserts to the snowy mountains, in order to escape the world’s most dangerous game.”
