Paramount Pictures is treating horror fans to the first official poster from Pet Sematary along with the first photos. The first look at the upcoming film arrived just a day prior to the planned release of the 2019 horror movie’s official trailer.

Set to open in theaters on April 5, 2019, Pet Sematary is based on the bestselling book by Stephen King. King’s terrifying novel about a burial ground that brings pets (and people) back to life was originally made into a feature film in 1989. That version was directed by Mary Lambert, with King penning the script. The 1989 adaptation starred Denise Crosby, Dale Midkiff, Fred Gwynne, Brad Greenquist, and Blaze Berdahl.

The 2019 version stars Jason Clarke as Louis Creed, Amy Seimetz as Rachel Creed, and John Lithgow as Jud Crandall. The cast also includes Hugo and Lucas Lavoie as Gage Creed, Jete Laurence as Ellie Creed, and Obssa Ahmed as Victor Pascow.

Scream: The TV Series‘ Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer directed from a script by Jeff Buhler (Nightflyers). Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Steven Schneider, and Mark Vahradian produced, with Mark Moran executive producing.

The Pet Sematary Plot:

Based on the seminal horror novel by Stephen King, Pet Sematary follows Dr. Louis Creed (Clarke), who, after relocating with his wife Rachel (Seimetz) and their two young children from Boston to rural Maine, discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family’s new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his unusual neighbor, Jud Crandall (Lithgow), setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.
