New Line and Warner Bros Pictures released the first teaser trailer for the action film, Rampage. The 2018 movie reunites director Brad Peyton with his San Andreas and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island star Dwayne Johnson for another effects-heavy adventure film. Ryan Engle, Carlton Cuse, Ryan J Condal, and Adam Sztykiel wrote the script, and the film’s based on the popular video game of the same name.
In addition to Dwayne Johnson, the cast includes Naomie Harris (Moonlight), Malin Akerman (Billions), Jake Lacy (Girls), Joe Manganiello (True Blood), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Walking Dead), P.J. Byrne (The Wolf of Wall Street), Marley Shelton (Solace), Breanne Hill (San Andreas), Jack Quaid (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire), and Matt Gerald (Daredevil).
Director Brad Peyton, Beau Flynn, John Rickard, and Hiram Garcia produced the thriller. Dwayne Johnson, Marcus Viscidi, Dany Garcia, Jeff Fierson, Toby Emmerich, Richard Brener and Michael Disco served as executive producers. The behind the scenes team includes director of photography Jaron Presant (2nd unit, Star Wars: The Last Jedi), production designer Barry Chusid (San Andreas), editor Jim May (Goosebumps), and costume designer Melissa Bruning (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes). San Andreas‘ Colin Strause is the VFX supervisor and Weta Digital worked on the visual effects.
Rampage is set to open in theaters on April 20, 2018.
The Rampage Plot: Primatologist Davis Okoye (Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry mutates this gentle ape into a raging creature of enormous size. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered animals.
As these newly created alpha predators tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.
