You’re pretty safe watching the teaser trailer for Warner Bros. Pictures’ Remain. It strongly hints at the weirdness going on but doesn’t flat out give it away. And the “trust the unknown” tagline works in multiple ways, including telling those who haven’t read Nicholas Sparks’ 2025 book to stay away from googling the twist.
Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor star, along with Ashley Walters, Julie Hagerty, and Jay O. Sanders.
Warner Bros. Pictures’ synopsis reads, “When reclusive architect Tate Gordon moves to small coastal town to complete his latest project, he encounters an alluring young woman who pulls him out of his shell and into the center of a deadly mystery that hangs over the town.”
Remain will be released in theaters on Valentine’s Day 2027.
M. Night Shyamalan and Sparks came up with the story, and Shyamalan wrote the screenplay and directs. Shyamalan, Ashwin Rajan, Marc Bienstock, and Theresa Park serve as producers. Sparks is an executive producer.
Shyamalan’s behind-the-scenes team includes director of photography Adolpho Veloso, production designer Sam Lisenco, editor Noëmi Preiswerk, costume designer Caroline Duncan, casting director Douglas Aibel, music supervisor Gabe Hilfer, and composer James Newton Howard.
