Tom Felton, best known for playing ‘Draco Malfoy’ in the Harry Potter films, promises this prequel to the Planet of the Apes films will be unlike anything we’ve seen before. The actors didn’t wear ape suits but instead were dressed in performance capture outfits, making the apes much more realistic than in previous outings.
James Franco and Freida Pinto lead the cast as Will Rodman and Caroline. Andy Serkis is Caesar, Brian Cox is John Landon, Tyler Labine is Robert Franklin, Tom Felton is Dodge Landon, and John Lithgow is Charles Rodman. David Oyelowo plays Steven Jacobs, Jamie Harris is Rodney, David Hewlett is Hunsiker, Ty Olsson is Chief John Hamil, and Madison Bell stars as Alice.
Directed by Rupert Wyatt, the PG-13 rated action drama opens in theaters on August 5, 2011.
Official Synopsis: Rise of the Planet of the Apes is an origin story in the truest sense of the term. Set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.
