Rihanna introduces the official Smurfs trailer which gives fans of the weird blue creatures their first good look at the nine-time Grammy winner as Smurfette. The trailer shows the Smurfs coming to our world, landing in Paris, and searching for the kidnapped Papa Smurf.
In addition to Rihanna, the cast includes James Corden, Nick Offerman, JP Karliak, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Natasha Lyonne, and Sandra Oh. Octavia Spencer, Nick Kroll, Hannah Waddingham, Alex Winter, Maya Erskine, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña, Kurt Russell, and John Goodman also star.
“When Papa Smurf (Goodman) is mysteriously taken by evil wizards, Razamel and Gargamel, Smurfette (Rihanna) leads the Smurfs on a mission into the real world to save him,” reads Paramount Animation’s synopsis. “With the help of new friends, the Smurfs must discover what defines their destiny to save the universe.”
Chris Miller directs from a screenplay by Pam Brady, based on the characters created by Peyo. Producers include Jay Brown, Ty Ty Smith, Robyn Rihanna Fenty, and Ryan Harris.
Smurfs opens in theaters on July 18, 2025.
