The first trailer for The Weinstein Company’s The Founder definitely doesn’t shine a positive light on the founder of McDonald’s. Oscar nominee Michael Keaton stars in the film which charts Ray Kroc’s history with the brothers Mac and Dick McDonald. Directed by John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side, Saving Mr. Banks), the cast also includes Linda Cardellini, Laura Dern, BJ Novak, Patrick Wilson, and John Carroll Lynch. The Founder will open in theaters on August 5, 2016.

The Plot: Written by Robert Siegel, The Founder is a drama that tells the true story of how Ray Kroc (Keaton), a salesman from Illinois, met Mac and Dick McDonald, who were running a burger operation in 1950s Southern California. Kroc was impressed by the brothers’ speedy system of making the food and saw franchise potential. He maneuvered himself into a position to be able to pull the company from the brothers and create a billion-dollar empire.
