‘The Woman King’ Trailer: Viola Davis Commands a Fierce Female Army

Sony Pictures’ The Woman King recalls the incredible true story of the fierce Agojie, led by General Nanisca. The official trailer shows Nanisca, played by Oscar winner Viola Davis, training her all-female warriors and preparing for war.

The cast also includes Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, Sheila Atim, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, and John Boyega.

Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Old Guard) directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Dana Stevens, story by Maria Bello. Viola Davis, Cathy Schulman, Julius Tennon, and Maria Bello produced. Peter McAleese served as an executive producer.

The Woman King opens in theaters on September 16, 2022.
