Sony Pictures Classics has unveiled a new clip from the dramatic film Truth starring Robert Redford and Cate Blanchett. Directed by James Vanderbuilt, Truth is based on the Rathergate scandal and features Redford as news anchor Dan Rather and Blanchett as CBS journalist/producer Mary Mapes. Truth is likely to be a player in the awards race and Sony Pictures Classics will be launching a wide release following its limited release in NY and LA on October 16, 2015.

The Plot: “The film chronicles the story Mapes and Rather uncovered that a sitting US president [George W. Bush] may have been AWOL from the United States National Guard for over a year during the Vietnam War. When the story blew up in their face, the ensuing scandal ruined Dan Rather’s career, nearly changed a US Presidential election, and almost took down all of CBS News in the process.”
