Tyler Perry Talks Alex Cross and Action Scenes

Tyler Perry turns action star with the lead role in Alex Cross, a reboot of the franchise based on James Patterson’s books. Previously, Patterson’s Alex Cross was brought to life on the screen by Morgan Freeman in Kiss the Girls (1997) and Along Came a Spider (2001). This film is a prequel to the past Cross stories, and Perry says he knew he couldn’t be Freeman and just had to be himself.

In this video interview provided by Summit Entertainment, Perry reveals that after reading the script he loved the character’s arc and couldn’t say no to the film. He also talks about training for the action scenes and working with Edward Burns, another actor/director.
