When a singer is booted off American Idol this season, they’ll be sent home to Phillip Phillips’ “Gone, Gone, Gone.” The song, off of his The World From The Side Of The Moon debut album, will be played during the recap segment of a departing American Idol contestant.

In addition to announcing “Gone, Gone, Gone” as the season 12 ‘good-bye’ song, Fox also announced Phillips and Bon Jovi will both be performing on the March 14, 2013 episode. Phillips will perform the song live on the results show.

Phillips’ American Idol song “Home” was a major hit for the AI winner, selling more than 4 million units. The bestselling single now stands as the record holder for any AI winner’s “coronation” song. And his The World From The Side Of The Moon album went gold after debuting at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart and #1 on the Billboard Rock album chart.
