2 million views and counting… Chris Rene stole the show on the series premiere of Fox’s The X-Factor, and his amazing performance of his original song, “Young Homie,” wowed the audiences and the judges. And now the video of Rene singing “Young Homie” has become a hit on Youtube.

Rene, a garbage man who wants to leave that job behind for a career in music, is a former drug addict who’s been clean for 70+ days (as of the date of the show’s taping). The father of a 2 1/2 year old son, Rene has cleaned up his act and says that winning the $5 million prize would mean stability for his family. His song was obviously deeply personal, and Rene even teared up at the end when the judges praised his strong, moving performance.
