Disney’s ‘Descendants’ Debuts in the Top Billboard 200 Spot

Disney Channel’s Descendants has pulled in more than 15.5 million viewers since its debut on July 31, 2015 and its first showing ranked as 2015’s number one cable movie debut. The original movie featured a soundtrack with contributions by the movie’s stars including Kristin Chenoweth and Dove Cameron, and that soundtrack CD has debuted in the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart. In addition, it hit the top spot on Billboard’s Soundtrack chart as well as the Children’s, Digital Album, and Top Albums charts.

The Plot: “Disney’s Descendants stars Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart and Sofia Carson as the teenage sons and daughters of Disney’s most infamous villains. With a knowing wink at traditional fairy tales, the live-action movie fuses castles with classrooms to create a contemporary, music-driven story about the challenges in living up to parental and peer expectations. The notable cast also includes Mitchell Hope, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Maz Jobrani, Kathy Najimy and the Tony Award-winning Kristin Chenoweth. Emmy Award-winning Kenny Ortega (High School Musical) directs, choreographs and executive-produces.”

Disney’s Descendants soundtrack was released on July 31, 2015.
