Academy members snubbed The LEGO Movie in the Animated Feature Film category but they did nominate the film’s catchy song “Everything is Awesome” in the Best Original Song category. It didn’t win (John Legend and Common’s “Glory” from Selma took home that Oscar) but at least The Lonely Island – Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone – and Tegan and Sara were part of the 87th Academy Awards’ most vibrant and bizarre musical number. And even the film’s voice of Batman, Will Arnett, hit the stage to sing a line during the “Everything is Awesome” number.
