14-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift returns to her country roots with a new, original song for Toy Story 5. “I Knew It, I Knew You” will be released on June 5, 2026, ahead of the film’s June 19 theatrical release.

Per Pixar, Swift’s original song takes its inspiration from cowgirl Jessie (voiced by Joan Cusack), who made her first appearance in the blockbuster animated franchise with Toy Story 2. Swift commented on her involvement in an Instagram post, saying, “I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a 5-year-old kid watching the first Toy Story movie. I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right?”

Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff wrote and produced the song, which will be included on the Toy Story 5 soundtrack.

Swift’s online store will offer three exclusive CD editions of the song: one as it appears in the film, one that’s a special acoustic version, and a special piano version.

“It’s incredible just how meaningful it’s been having Taylor write and perform this song. Her connection to Jessie and the immediate way she understood what the character was going through was undeniable,” said Toy Story 5 director and screenwriter Andrew Stanton. “The song is so deeply connected to Toy Story. So much so that on first listen, it instantly felt like it had always belonged there, like a long-lost family member. It was kismet.”
